Layout Tours
The Mad River Railroad by Bill Stinson
This layout occupies a 21' x 10' space and represents a fictional view of trains in the Mad River valley (around Waitsfield, VT) in the 1950s. The layout is controlled by a Digitrax DCC system. There is a mix of steam (both wood burning and coal fired steamers) and first generation diesels. The structures are primarily scratch built and are modeled after structures seen in this area of Vermont. The railroad is in a rural setting, so the sidings serve gravel pits and small agricultural businesses. There is a yard with steam facilities and a turntable.
