Maine Midland Railway by Dick Merriam

The Maine Midland is an HO scale fictitious railroad whose main line is envisioned to run between Woodsville, NH and Danforth, ME. Major subdivisions extend into the Allagash, Aroostook County, Calais & Eastport and to an interchange with the Maine Central at Newport Jct.   All of these places are represented by "off-line" staging yards.  Other railroads appearing on the layout include CP Rail which runs a couple "detour" trains; the Northern Vermont (Paul Allard's railroad) has a transfer run into the main yard at Somerset; and, the Bangor & Aroostook which interchanges traffic with the Maine Midland at Hancock and has trackage rights over a short section of the railroad. RR Facts: Era late summer 1975 in Maine, layout size 19’x22’ with 14’x32” staging, point to point plan (~200’ code 83 main line), all freight operation (focus is large pulp mill, paper and other wood products), power is 1st and 2nd generation diesel (some with sound), controlled by NCE DCC.

Completion: Major trackage installed/operational. Scenery - early stages (some scratchbuilt and kit-bashed structures in place).
